Today, I wanted to address some concerns expressed by a group that for all intents and purposes here will remain nameless. Their concern was that speaking about Heavenly Mother can bring and inflict harm on the LGBTQ+ community and that referring to God with gender is harmful. Although I do believe we should be making efforts to be more inclusive and find equal representation for all minorities, the marginalized, and create a space for all people of every sexual orientation of their choosing... With this being said, I think there are great things at stake here when we make statements in regards to a feminine deity. Let me explain my view point. I think that, with the assumption that discussion on a Heavenly Mother can provide harm to our society, that argument can actually bring about so much harm to women. Not being able to recognize a female deity is one thing that I think has been most lacking in society, where the greatest conflicts stem from. Because if we aren't able to elevate women to that station, then we are limiting women to be in equal standing. Not validating women increases the lack of equality in our world, even when it comes to sexual orientation and minorities. Every level and degree of inequality is going to persist unless we recognize and validate a female deity, because there is an imbalance. If we aren't going to recognize the divinity of half of the human race, how could people ever come to elevate our LGBTQ+ siblings? In order to bring about change, we have to empower women and their divinity, straight or otherwise.
Taking the focus away from a grand, all powerful Mother is not going to help the whole and give back to those who don't fit the mold of patriarchy. Speaking about Her in a Mother role does not have to take away from people who do not fit the stereotypical straight Caucasian norm. The fact that womanhood is being REPRESENTED here, amidst the universally acclaimed white male God is making strides, and is giving power back to women. This is something we should be taking note of.
Stating that there is harm in recognizing a maternal God, a feminine God may have adverse affects on women, and may not assist in inclusion as it works against supporting all those who have been subjugated to the system of patriarchy. If we don't recognize a HER in it, then we aren't making any headway.
What I would suggest is that this is a triumph for women in general. Acknowledging that someone with our body type can achieve goddesshood, that life was created through woman rather than man (like, duh), that brings a lot of empowerment to women, regardless of our sexual orientation. And allowing for more than just a male god to take presence gives back to the world and allows for all political views. This is something we should consider.
The fact that there is a divine feminine and divine masculine speaks volumes. Perhaps God the Mother and God the Father share these traits, individually. In either case, every one of us has feminine AND masculine traits, and that is divine. That can speak for all of the marginalized, for every person's circumstance. The fact that we have parents does not negate other's experiences. Same with eternal parents. Having Heavenly Parents, does not negate their children's experience, nor draw us to any negative connection to their relationship with them or the essence of their being. I hope that this effort will be able to reach the hearts of everyone, regardless of our political views, spirituality, and stand points. And most importantly, depict the need and majesty of a feminine deity, our Heavenly Mother.
Warmest regards, Krystal, with My Heavenly Mother
